A Brief Overview on the Louqe Ghost S1

The Ghost S1 is a premium quality, small form factor PC case designed by the Swedish company, Louqe. It started as a concept back in 2017 on Kickstarter, and has since released to the public late last year. They like to send out orders in batches, and with each new batch they make revisions to the case based on feedback from the case's current owners. Here, I will provide a brief overview of it's features.

First, some hardware compatibility:

  • Motherboard - Mini-ITX only
  • CPU Cooler - Up to 66mm in height or 240mm radiator with 31.5mm thickness
  • GPU - Dual-slot up to 305mm in length
  • PSU - SFX or SFX-L only
  • Storage - 1 x slot on bottom tray and 1 x space behind PSU for 2.5" SSD or HDD
The Ghost S1 can also come with modular parts that Louqe calls "Tophats". Depending on what size you get (small, medium, or large), you can add more compatibility to your system by using the extra space in some neat ways. One of the most common configurations is adding in a 240mm radiator, something that can only be done with a large Tophat. However, you can do even more with Tophats, such as adding in extra case fans for better heat dissipation or adding a couple more 3.5" storage drives if you use a medium Tophat. Some users also use the Tophats to make bigger parts fit, such as using one on the bottom of the case to better accommodate a long SFX-L PSU.

For CPU cooling, many people like to go with air coolers in their case. After extensive testing by both Louqe and the SFF community, they have determined that the best air cooler for this case is the Noctua NH-L12, as it provides the perfect balance between good thermals and noise levels. However, some community members have found ways to add a larger fan, the most common choice being a Noctua NF-A12x15. In order for it to fit, the user would either have to remove the fan clips and rubber feet, or remove the heat spreaders from their RAM. In my opinion the benefits are worth the cost, potentially dropping up to 10 degrees Celsius from the CPU.

This concludes my brief summary of the Louqe Ghost S1. The case can be purchased from their website, which also contains additional specs and other documentation:
